Summary

One of the most complex issues employment lawyers advise on is accommodating employees’ limitations whether it be caused by a conflict with a religious belief, a pregnancy complication, or a disability. Almost every situation involves unique facts and circumstances both from the perspective of the employees’ limitations and the duties of the particular jobs. The law is rapidly changing in both apparent ways, the Supreme Court’s revision of an employer’s obligation to accommodate religious beliefs and new laws mandating accommodation of pregnancy based limitations, and not so apparent ways, a shift in judicial attitudes regarding remote work. This session will update attendees on the current state of the law and provide suggestions for counseling employees and employers who are facing these issues.
