Summary

You may have seen the headlines— DEA Agent Chad Scott charged and convicted in federal court for a slew of crimes from perjury and obstruction to conspiracy.  But do you know the real story?  Come hear the behind-the-scenes reality of this remarkable saga from a lawyer who lived it and the reporters who have dug deeper than anyone else.  Stephen Haedicke was the defense attorney for Jorge Peralta, the defendant against whom Chad Scott lied and who later testified against Scott at his federal trial.  Faimon Roberts and Jim Mustian are the reporters whose in-depth investigation of the Chad Scott saga has led to a riveting eight-part podcast—Smoke Screen: Betrayal on the Bayou—that tells the tale of Scott’s rise and fall at the DEA.  Together they will explore perspectives on this remarkable story, its ongoing implication for the legal system, and the lessons it provides to criminal justice attorneys.
