This introductory CLE will walk attorneys through the fundamentals of filing a habeas corpus petition to challenge the unlawful detention of immigrants in ICE custody. Participants will learn the legal framework, practical filing tips, and strategies for emergency stays. The session will also share real-world case examples and provide a roadmap for attorneys who want to volunteer and take on habeas cases to help secure the release of detained individuals. Whether you’re new to immigration law or looking to expand your advocacy toolkit, this training will give you the knowledge and resources to make an immediate impact.
