"Authentication of Social Media Evidence: A New Twist on the Old Rules"

Social Media has become a hotbed of potential evidence in many cases nationwide over the past several years. The more prevelant cases involving social media as evidence are in the field of person injury, family law, criminal law, labor law and Workman's Compensation. How can the researcher best access this invaluable data? How to get the information into evidence? Must one preserve the social media sites where the data resides? What about private data versus public data? How do the Federal Rules of Evidence apply to social media when introducing it as evidence? "Law & Tech Talk: Cybercrime and Cybersecurity"

The NOBA "Law and Tech Talk" Speaker Series ("LTT") features local professionals who are at the forefront of the intersection of law, business, and technology. LTT brings together leaders in law, business, government, and technology to discuss cutting-edge legal issues and help participants gain real-world insights to elevate their practices, all in a laid-back, open environment. 

This month's LTT on Cybercrime and Cybersecurity features professionals who shape, enforce or help in compliance matters regarding law related ot cybercrime and cybersecurity. The discussion will focus on the legal and practical issues surrounding preventing, planning for and responding to cybercrime for both individuals and businesses. There will also be an opportunity for participants to ask questions to better understand the practical realities of working with law enforcement to respond to a cybersecurity breach incident.
