NOBA Members Receive National Awards

Association Conference in New Orleans.
The New Orleans Bar Association (NOBA) is pleased to announce that several members of the bench and bar from the Greater New Orleans Area will be honored on July 31st at an award breakfast, hosted by the Women’s Lawyers Division of The National Bar Association. The Honorable Nanette J. Brown, Chief Judge, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana, will be honored for her Excellence in Judiciary. Kim M. Boyle, Partner, Phelps Dunbar LLP, and Past the Louisiana State Bar Association President and Past New Orleans Bar Association President, will receive the Hidden Figures Award. Dana M. Douglas, Partner, Liskow & Lewis, and NOBA President, will be recognized as an Outstanding Minority Partner in a Majority Firm. Sandra Diggs Miller, Associate General Counsel at Entergy and New Orleans Bar Association and New Orleans Bar Foundation board member, will be recognized as an Outstanding Corporate Counsel. Ashley J. Heilprin, Associate at Phelps Dunbar LLP, will be recognized as an Outstanding Young Lawyer.
Louisiana State Representative Royce Duplessis will serve as the keynote speaker for the Young Lawyers Division Awards Luncheon on July 31st. Rep. Duplessis, as the Immediate Past President of the Greater New Orleans Louis A. Martinet Legal Society, will accept the Section of the Year Award on behalf of the chapter.
On August 1st, the NBA will hold its 40 Under 40 Awards Gala. The Gala will recognize the nation’s top 40 lawyers under the age of 40 who have made great achievements in the legal field. Amongst the award recipients is local lawyer Ashley J. Heilprin, Associate, Phelps Dunbar LLP.
On August 2nd, the NBA will hold its Hall of Fame Luncheon. The Luncheon recognizes the lifetime achievements of Legal Legends by inducting them into the NBA Hall of Fame. Amongst this year’s inductees include the Honorable Carl E. Stewart, Chief Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit; the Honorable Ivan L.R. Lemelle, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana; the Honorable Ernestine Gray, Orleans Parish Juvenile Court; and Wayne Lee, Partner, Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann, LLC, and Past Louisiana State Bar Association President.
Lastly, Lesli D. Harris, Partner at Stone Pigman Walther Wittman, LLC and NOBA Intellectual Property and Entertainment Committee Chair, will be honored with the Sports and Entertainment Lawyer of the Year Award at the NBA Gala.
