Healthcare Law Committee Prepares for a Busy Year

April 4 2013 | News
As 2014 is set to bring about a monumental overhaul to the healthcare system within this country, the Healthcare Law Committee mapped out an impressive agenda at their April 4th meeting. They see this year as their opportunity to help the local community access the necessary tools and information to navigate the coming changes. The SMART Act was another hot topic at the meeting, with many wondering how it could affect the state of Louisiana in regards to FEMA trailer legal issues. Currently, Louisiana is the only state in the Gulf South in which Medicaid has not waived the right to recover. Many on the Healthcare Law Committee see this as the ideal opportunity to apply the new SMART Act to this unique issue. The meeting concluded with talk of the coming legislative session, with a particular interest in a proposed bill for expedited trials.
