Downtown Development District Talks to Real Property Committee

Kurt Weigle, President and CEO of the Downtown Development District, gave a presentation to the Real Property Committee on Feb. 5, 2014.  Mr. Weigle outlined the DDD’s mission, spoke about many residential, retail, entertainment and restaurant developments either completed or under way in Downtown New Orleans, and discussed DDD’s interaction with the City and developers to reach the goals of a better city.  Highlights of his presentation included:

* DDD’s mission is to drive the development of Downtown New Orleans as an economic center to make the City of New Orleans a desirable place to work and to live

* DDD is working to market and promote Downtown NOLA as a clean and safe place to live and to work, with access to reliable and useable public transportation

* DDD has a Façade Improvement program to assist developers with historic properties (e.g. the Fischer Jewelry building at the corner of Canal and N. Rampart)
