Introducing Virtual Hearing Officer Conference (VHOC) System

April 16 2020 | Committees

Dear Colleagues,

I hope you and your families are safe and healthy during this time. Over the past couple of weeks, we have been in communication with Judge Scott Schlegel, Judge Lee Faulkner, and Hearing Officer Lisa Matthews of the 24th JDC to develop a virtual hearing officer conference (VHOC) system so that we can continue to address some of our clients’ matters during the suspension of non-emergency hearings. And I am happy to report that the 24th JDC will begin holding VHOCs this coming Monday, April 20, 2020.

Lisa Matthews will be the first hearing officer conducting VHOCs. While she is currently designated to Divisions B, G, O, and P, she will conduct VHOCs for all other judges at this time. The Court hopes to have all of the Hearing Officers set up by the end of the month.

The Court has posted a calendar on its website that can be used to sign up for conferences with Ms. Matthews. There will be two-hour hearing officer conference time slots. There will also be 15-minute status conference time slots that can be scheduled in advance of the full hearing to discuss logistics.

Below please find an instructional sheet for you and your clients. The instructions and a sample consent order will be posted on the Court’s website at Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

With kind regards, we remain.

Sincerely yours from afar,
Marc D. Winsberg
