Jay Brinkmann, former chief economist of the Mortgage Banker's Association, gave a presentation entitled "Home Prices in New Orleans, Will the Trends Continue?" to the Real Property Committee on February 24.
Mr. Brinkmann's presentation was broader in scope than just the New Orleans housing market, as he gave us a lot of information about economic trends and data around the country, and even some international economic data, which have an impact on the housing market. He also discussed the stock and bond markets and how those affect mortgage rates, as well as the new regulations on mortgage loans prompted by the Consumer Protection Financial Bureau legislation.
While one might expect this to be dry material, Jay managed to make this lively and interesting, including audience participation.
The Real Property Committee thanks Jay for his excellent presentation.
