GRANT WILL PAY ATTORNEYS TO REPRESENT DOMESTIC ABUSE VICTIMS

November 18 2021 | Committees

The Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence (LCADV) developed the Legal Access Network in 2020 in response to the persistent need for civil legal representation for survivors across the state. The Legal Access Network (LAN) is a statewide project that connects survivors of domestic violence who are unable to afford legal services privately and are unable to access other resources such as legal aid, to private attorneys to address their legal needs. LCADV pays private attorneys across Louisiana to represent survivors in cases such as protection orders, custody, divorce, and immigration.

In addition to an hourly fee, LAN contracted attorneys receive mentorship, research assistance, and other resources throughout their participation in LAN. Recruitment of new attorneys to this network is ongoing.  Attorneys interested in learning more can contact LAN@lcadv.org or 225-752-1296.
