Construction Law Committee Site Visit at the VA Hospital

The Construction Law Committee participated in a site visit of the ongoing construction project at the Veterans Administration hospital on Thursday, September 24th.  Pictured from left to right are:  Jim Hailey (Deutsch, Kerrigan and Stiles), Jason Camelford (Coats Rose), Claire Pontier (Couhig Partners), Tamara Lindsay (co-chair, Coats Rose), Jimmy Castex (co-chair, Deutsch, Kerrigan and Stiles), Darrell Cherry (Deutsch Kerrigan and Stiles), Scott Hedlund (Deutsch Kerrigan and Stiles), Jeff Pastorek (Couhig Partners) and Steve Maslen (Clark McCarthy).                                                          

The site visit included a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility’s state of the art boiler room, emergency room wing, and incorporation of interstitial work spaces for plumbing and electrical maintenance.  Steve Maslen -- (operations manager) for the project’s general contractor, Clark McCarthy Healthcare Partners -- explained some of the project’s unique challenges, including adherence to force protection barrier requirements and incorporation of the former Dixie Brewery’s façade into the current design. 

The Construction Law Committee upcoming events include a CLE on ADA Compliance for compliance for construction projects on October 14, 2015 and a holiday cocktail party is tentatively scheduled at the law offices of Deutsch, Kerrigan and Stiles for Thursday, December 3 from 630-830.
