On October 3, 2014, NOBA "Welcomed the Irish." It is undeniable that the Irish have played a prominent role in shaping and influencing the New Orleans Bar, Judiciary, and local politics. Chief Judge Jim McKay, of the LA 4th Circuit, has been appointed Honorary Counsel General for Ireland for the State of Louisiana and this year the Irish government has chosen New Orleans as the international city for the official commemoration of the Irish Famine. Judge McKay spoke and offered a multimedia presentation while attendees get sampled the flavor of all things Irish, including complimentary Irish delicacies and libations.
