Legalpalooza on June 27, 2009

  • A fantastic night of music was held with our favorite lawyers turned musicians at the First Annual NOBA YLS Charity Concert for the Legal Aid Bureau. 
  • Featured musicians included the Cou-Zan Band, Mia Borders, and The N'awlins Johnnys

Dos and Don'ts of Summer Clerkships

  • Thursday, May 21, 2009 from 4:30 - 5:30 with YLS Social after panel discussion
  • Le Phare, 523 Gravier Street, New Orleans
  • Everything you've always wanted to know about but were afraid to ask about summer clerkships, including conduct, attire, and etiquette.

 

Law Day

  • On Wednesday, May 13th the NOBA-YLS will sponsor a program celebrating the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's birthday the at the Hon. Carl Barbier's courtroom.
  • This event will be held in conjunction with our annual Law Day Essay Contest.  School children from the New Orleans area have been asked to participate.

Liberty Bell Award

  • The NOBA-YLS will recognize the outstanding work and leadership of a non-lawyer serving to further justice in the area.
  • The Liberty Bell Award Ceremony will be held on May 20, 2009 at 12 noon at NOBA's Approach the Bench CLE.

 

May Clothing Drive

  • During the month of May, the NOBA-YLS is sponsoring a charity drive to collect needed items to benefit women and children in need.
  • All of the donations will be donated to Crescent City House, Metropolitan Center for Women and Children, and the New Orleans Family Justice Center.

Bar & Grille will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009

  • Located at the Peristyle in City Park
  • Teams of amateur chefs from local companies and law firms participate in a cook off from with proceeds going to Southeast Louisiana Legal Services.

  • Volunteers assisted attendees with a variety of legal questions, preparation of advance directives, and organ donation declarations
