Free legal assistance to the public was offered on Sunday, June 30th at the annual Young Lawyers Section and Minorities in the Profession Legal Fair. NOBA Members of the Young Lawyers Section, Minorities in the Profession Committee, and Health Care Law Committee were on hand to address questions relating to successions, family law, medicare and medicaid issues, and criminal law. Held at Exodus Place Community Center in Central City, this program was funded by a grant from the American Bar Association. Many issues were addressed by the lawyers on hand who offered basic legal advice. More complex issues of attendees were referred to the appropriate local agencies including Southeast Louisiana Legal Services. Special thanks to all who volunteered and to Aaron Greenbaum, YLS Public Service and Legal Fair Chair; Dana Douglas, Minorities in the Profession Committee Chair, and Michael Ecuyer, Health Care Law Committee Chair, for all their assistance.
