Women in the Profession Committee Welcome
Posted on: March 16, 2015 | Posted in: Committees
We are in a race for talent. Approximately half of the talent in new lawyers (and 43 percent of all associates) are women.
Many law firms, corporate clients, and bar associations have set goals to increase gender diversity among lawyers. These goals include increasing the number of women lawyers, women equity partners, women on compensation and management committees, and women leading practice groups and trial teams. This year, NOBA’s Women in the Profession (WIP) Committee will discuss how best to achieve those goals in New Orleans. Along these lines, the WIP Committee will focus on the advancement of women in the profession including through developing women for the judiciary, assisting women in negotiating for personal and professional development, and promoting the retention and advancement of women attorneys in New Orleans law firms.
All female members of the New Orleans Bar Association are invited to attend the WIP Committee’s first planning meeting which will take place on April 28, 2015 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. at the New Orleans Bar Association. Lunch will be provided. Registration fee is $14. (Go here to register.)
