Body language is cited as a major factor influencing how people see you. Lawyers attending the third installment of NOBA’s Lean In Series examined the ways in which body language affects perceptions of power and influence. Kim Boyle, Phelps Dunbar, led a discussion devoted to the ways in which non-verbal communication impacts outcomes in the legal profession. Words often account for as little as 7% of how people are judged. Attendees explored suggestions on how to use body language to convey both authority and approachability. The summer series sponsored by the Women in the Profession Committee concludes on August 7th with Alicia Bendana, Lowe Stein, moderating a session on Team Dynamics.
