Prior defense experience preferred but not required. Ideal candidate must have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, transcribing dictation, managing attorney calendars, proofreading, filing procedures in Louisiana State and Federal Courts, and either proficiency or a demonstrated ability to learn a paperless document management system. Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell, & Berkowitz, P.C. has an immediate opening for a real estate paralegal in its New Orleans Office. All candidates must have either a Bachelor's Degree and/or a paralegal certificate from an ABA approved paralegal program and three to five years of prior commercial real estate experience. Some responsibilities include draft and review loan/acquisition documentation; obtain and analysis of due diligence materials, including title/survey/lease reviews; assist with title examination and preparation of title insurance commitments and policies; coordinate and close transactions; and form and file entity documentation. Candidates should possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication (oral and written) skills. All applicants should have an aptitude for detail; the ability to work efficiently, and to work under pressure with or without direct supervision. Each candidate must be able to handle multiple projects at the same time and be familiar with computerized databases and on-line services. Candidates must be flexible, have regular attendance and be willing to work overtime if necessary.
