Hurricane Maria Relief Efforts

Relief Efforts for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands

Hurricane Maria’s catastrophic impact on Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands has set off a humanitarian crisis. In Puerto Rico alone, there are 3.4 million U.S. citizens who are in a dire situation. There is still no power and, in too many places, no running water.  Puerto Rico's power grid, telecommunications and infrastructure are severely damaged and living conditions are critical.  It could take months before power is restored on the island.

New Orleans Bar Foundation is asking lawyers to donate $25 gift cards from Walmart, CVS, Sam's, Costco, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Walgreens or Amazon.com, as individuals can use them to purchase necessary supplies, including building supplies, solar chargers, pharmacy items, and equipment for offices and homes. All gift card purchases are tax-deductible if sent to the New Orleans Bar Foundation. Subsequently we will send a thank you letter acknowledging your generosity which can be used for tax purposes.

When shopping this weekend, please consider picking up gift cards to the stores listed above. These gift cards can be found at Rouses, Walgreens, or at the stores listed above. Please help in any way that you can-- whether by donating funds, gift cards, or by volunteering through charitable organizations and churches.  We are grateful for your help and solidarity during these trying times for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

To assist, please drop off or mail your gift cards directly to
