"New Title IV Rules and Appendices for Family Law Proceedings" CLE on October 7, 2015

The Louisiana Supreme Court approved the new Title IV Rules and Appendices for family law proceedings on April 30, 2015.  Effective July 1, 2015, these new Rules and their Appendices will replace the Title IV numbering system and court-specific rules currently in place. Frank Tranchina will discuss what these new rules mean for your family law proceedings.

"Mediation From the Standpoint of Judges and Experienced Mediators" {Joint CLE with the ADR Comittee}

The judges will discuss such topics as what they expect from lawyers; how to deal with lawyers who sabotage mediation; how to keep the mediation going forward when when it seems as though both parties are at an impasse; what lawyers should and should not do in preparing their clients for mediation and in carrying out the mediation.

The lawyers on the panel will discuss their past experiences and how they have dealt with certain problems, whether it is a problem lawyer, a problem client or a problem mediator.

On June 30th, Judges Regina H. Woods and Judge Clare F. Jupiter will discussed with attorneys such issues as how they intend to manage their court now that they are newly elected to the general civil docket; do's and don'ts for attorneys, pet peeves etc. Judge Kern A. Reese, as Chief Judge, gave his input based on his lengthy time on the bench.
