Removal and Remand Updates CLE

The Complex Litigation and Products Liability Committees present an update on several gamechanging cases in the arena of removal and remand. Thomas Flanagan of Flanagan Partners will moderate a panel of lawyers who face these issues often in their practice, including Kerry Miller of Fishman Haygood, Heather Lonian of Stone Pigman, Chloe Chetta of Barrasso Usdin and Cayce Peterson of The Lambert Firm. The panel will present a quick refresher on the technical bases for removal and remand and then dive into more complex issues including pre-service removal, federal question removal, federal officer removal, CAFA implications, joinder issues and the effects of suing foreign insurers.

On Thursday, March 15, 2017, the Complex Litigation Committee co-hosted E-Discovery Simplified & How Your Clients Benefit From Cooperating With Difficult Opposing Counsel CLE with attorney Mark R. Beebe and litigation support specialist Nick Mole, from Adams and Reese LLP.

On Friday, November 3, 2017, the Complex Litigation Committee co-hosted Managing Multi-Jurisdictional Litigation: Opportunities and Challenges in both the State and Federal Systems CLE with speakers Stephen L. Miles and Kyle W. Siegel of Barrasso Usdin Kupperman Freeman & Sarver, L.L.C.

On October 31, 2017, Alexander M. McIntyre, Jr., of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC, presented a Louisiana Competition Law CLE.

On January 31, 2017, there was an introductory meeting for the committee to meet the chair and each other, and to also get an idea of commtitee interest for upcoming programs.
